The British Columbia Association of Laboratory Physicians (BCALP) represents the Section of Laboratory Medicine of Doctors of BC and makes recommendations on business and economic matters to the Doctors of BC Board of Directors and Committees. The BCALP works on behalf of BC pathologists and laboratory physicians to maintain high standards of proficiency and advance scientific knowledge in all branches of laboratory medicine. The Association is committed to elevating the professional, scientific, and educational status of all our members.
At the current time in British Columbia, the BCALP, through the Doctors of BC, is the only body recognized by the Ministry of Health for negotiation for discussion of working conditions (workload, incomes, resources, etc). In order to advance the cause of pathologists within the province, it is vitally important that all laboratory physicians become members and participate in the organization.
